Mentee Application

Bewerbung zum Mentee

     Becoming a mentee of Kunstmentorat NRW’s third season requires your written application in German or English. Applications should only be sent via e-mail to labk@kunsthaus.nrw until 20 January 2023.

Your complete application includes the following:

      Documents:

  • CV with your education and an overview of exhibitions, projects and prizes or stipends
  • Portfolio as a documentation of your artistic work in digital form (scope: 15-20 pages or images / when you are working with film or video, please send up to 5 Vimeo links or similar / with max. one catalog as a separate PDF document)
  • Motivation statement, written on max. 1 DIN A4 page (font-size: 12), or recorded on video or audio (max. 3 minutes), in which you lay out why you are interested in taking part in the Kunstmentorat and what you hope the program might cover
  • Short artist statement, no more than 150 words on your work in written form or as recorded on video or audio (max. 1 minute)

    Please submit your application material as one single PDF with no more than one extra PDF (i.d., catalog) or additional video-/audio-files with labk@kunsthaus.nrw only. Altogether, application materials should stay within 10 MB. Please also note the following.

     Sie möchten sich mit Menschen und Institutionen in Ihrer Region vernetzen und die Struktur der hiesigen Kunstszene besser kennenlernen?
     Sie sind bereit, sich auf einem persönlichen Wissenstransfer einzulassen?

Jury meeting and further procedure

    An expert jury of members from the ministry of culture and science, the Kunsthaus NRW, one art school professor and one art critic will choose seven candidates from the incoming applications. First, the appointed mentees will be notified via e-mail. Then, in the next step, the matching phase is initialized. During those, the mentee can name three mentors with whom she or he would like to work. Subsequently, the mentors are called to make their vote on the mentees. Applicants are encouraged to learn more about our mentors on our website (see “Mentor:innen”).

    All applications are kept confidential, and your documents are processed according to the data protection law. We ask you not to submit your application personally or via post. Physical copies and catalogs will not be considered and cannot be returned.
    We do not send receipt confirmations (until the deadline) during the application process. All applicants will be notified via e-mail about the outcome of the application process. We hope you understand that we cannot reply to questions on your application status.
